GMZ Paper Cups Pass SGS Recyclability Test Under PTS-RH 021/97 Standard

Independent testing confirms GMZ paper cups achieve a 93.76% fiber recovery rate and are compatible with standard paper recycling systems.

ANHUI, China, Feb. 12, 2026 – Global testing and certification organization SGS has issued a recyclability assessment report for the GMZ Pack paper cup product series following testing conducted under the PTS-RH 021/97 standard. The results indicate that GMZ paper cups are compatible with existing paper recycling processes and can be effectively repulped within standard paper recovery systems. The independent evaluation highlights GMZ Pack’s ongoing focus on material recyclability and environmental responsibility in the design of food packaging products.

During the testing process, GMZ paper cup samples demonstrated stable performance in the repulping stage of the paper recycling process. The results showed a fiber recovery rate of 93.76%, with no stickies or adhesion issues detected during pulping. Based on these findings, the product series received an overall classification indicating recyclability within conventional paper recovery systems.

The test was conducted in accordance with PTS-RH 021/97, a method developed by Papiertechnische Stiftung (PTS), a German research institute specializing in paper technology. The method is widely used in the packaging industry to assess the recyclability of paper-based packaging materials within established paper recycling streams. By simulating key stages of the paper recycling process, the method evaluates how materials behave during repulping and regeneration, as well as their impact on the quality of recovered fiber. The results help determine whether a packaging material can be effectively processed within existing paper recycling infrastructure.
